BATON ROUGE– Eight LSU soccer players were named to the 2000 Southeastern Conference women’s soccer Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer announced on Tuesday.
Seniors Caroline Ellender, Sarah Gilbert and Bryna Warnock, along with sophomores Kara Dean, Mandy Heintz, Leigh McGovern, Ashley Mitnick and Bonnie Otillio were all honored by the SEC for their academic performance.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours toward a degree. The 2000 SEC Women’s Soccer Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic calendar.
The Tigers are the fifth seed at the SEC Tournament and open up play on Thursday against fourth seeded Kentucky at 1:30 CT in Athens, Ga.
