BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team looks to rebound from a Friday loss to Florida on Sunday afternoon in Athens, Ga., when it meets Southeastern Conference opponent Georgia.
The Tigers fell to back to the .500 mark in conference play at 4-4 with a 3-0 loss to the Gators. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were knocking off defending SEC Western Division champion Arkansas, 3-1.
LSU remained one-match behind West Division-leader Alabama, which fell to 5-3 in the conference after falling to Tennessee.
“This match is huge for us,” said LSU coach Fran Flory. “We are still in control of our own destiny in the West with Alabama losing. But we have to play at a high level in all of our remaining matches to get where we want to be.”
Georgia stands at 11-9 overall and 3-5 in the SEC with the upset of the LadyBacks.
“Georgia is a tough team that proved they can play with anyone with its win over Arkansas,”
said Flory of LSU’s Sunday opponent. “They have a new coach who is very good and has them on the right track right now. It will be a tough match.”
