BATON ROUGE — The LSU football team will be looking for its second victory over a Top 15 opponent tonight at 8 when it takes on the 13th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs before a packed Tiger Stadium and in front of a national television audience on ESPN2. LSU (4-3, 2-2 SEC) and Mississippi State (4-1, 2-1 SEC) will meet for the 94th time dating back to Nov. 20, 1896, with LSU leading the all-time series, 57-33-3. The LSU-Mississippi State series will become the longest in LSU football history tonight, surpassing the LSU-Tulane series of 93 games.
With four games against SEC Western Division opponents remaining, LSU continues to control its own destiny in terms of championship possibilities. After a bye week on Oct. 28, the Tigers take on Alabama on Nov. 4 at home before traveling to Ole Miss on Nov. 11 and Arkansas in Little Rock on Friday, Nov. 24.
