BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s and women’s basketball teams make their first public appearance Saturday for Basketball Fan Day prior to the LSU-Mississippi State football game.
The event will be held at the Maravich Assembly Center from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Doors for the free to the public event will open at 3:30 p.m. The first 200 LSU students with identification card will receive free Coke and popcorn. There will be giveaways from both teams and a shot contest for the fans. Schedule cards for both teams will be available at the event and both teams will participate in a 45-minute autograph session.
Coach Sue Gunter‘s Lady Tigers advanced to the Elite 8 a year ago and Coach John Brady‘s Tigers won the Southeastern Conference championships and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 a season ago. Both coaches will visit with the fans gathered for the event, introduce their 2000-2001 teams and both teams will have short workouts in front of the fans.
Both teams make their exhibition debuts on Nov. 6 at the Assembly Center with the Lady Tigers playing Russia in a 4:30 p.m. exhibition game, while the men will follow at 7 p.m. against the Global Sports team of former college all-stars and CBA players. Season tickets for both teams are still on sale at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office.
