TAMPA, Fla. — The LSU men’s golf team finished in a tie for seventh place after 36 holes of play Monday at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate co-hosted by Central Florida and the University of Florida.
The Tigers, tied with Vanderbilt, Georgia State and Tennessee, shot 296-292 for a total of 588, 12-over par. Senior Craig Taylor led the way individually with scores of 78 and 66 to finish at even par and in a tie for seventh place. The 66 was one shot off the course record at Old Memorial Golf Club.
John Humphries shot a 75-71, 2-over par to place in a tie for 18th. Alan Morgan shot 72-77 (149), 5-over and is in a tie for 37th with teammate Billy Dressler. Dressler shot a 71-78. Garrett Prather shot an 80-81 and is 17-over par.
The Florida Gators are the leaders after two rounds, shooting a 280-293 (573) at 3-under par. The Gators also have the top individual golfer, Camilo Villegas. Villegas shot 69-71 for a score of 140 and is 4-under par.
Teamwise after two rounds, the Gators are followed in second by Florida State, Ole Miss is third followed by Mississippi State and then in fifth is North Florida.
“We played a real tough course today, we had some high scores we need to get rid of and we will come back tommorow and do our best”, said head coach Greg Jones.
The Tigers will play their final 18 holes Tuesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Old Memorial Golf Club.
