Men's Golf Finishes Third in First Fall Tournament

Men’s Golf Travels to Florida For Tournament

TAMPA, Fla. — The LSU men’s golf team will open play Monday in the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate held in Tampa, Fla. The tournament, which runs through Tuesday, will be held at the Old Memorial Golf Club.

The Tigers are coming off a 14th place finish in the Red River Classic Shootout last week in Dallas. The lone bright spots that tournament in the tournament were a hole-in-one by Soph. John Humphries in the second round and senior Alan Morgan finished in a tie for 9th place. Morgan also had a top-20 finish and a tournament victory in Tennessee this season to solidify his position as he team’s most consistent player.

The tournament will include a very competitive field that includes fellow Southeastern Conference schools Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Play in round one begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday at the par-72 course. Old Memorial Golf Club’s yardage is 7, 198 yards.

The Tigers will wrap up play Tuesday and will return to action when they play host to the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate on Oct. 30-31 held at the Country Club of Louisiana.
