BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s basketball team practiced for the first time on Saturday morning as the basketball season officially got under way.
“I thought we did pretty good, specifically the upper classmen,” said LSU head coach Sue Gunter. “We looked good on offense considering that this is the first time we have all been together on the floor.”
Freshman Doneeka and Roneeka Hodges as well as ex-softball players Stacey Newton and Ashlee Ducote were among the new faces on the court for the Lady Tigers.
“With the new players, our number one focus is on their conditioning and their concentration over the entire two hour process,” said Gunter. “It is easy to get tired mentally and physically and that is what we want them to work on.”
Ten players in all were dressed out for Gunter, with only junior center DeTrina White (back) sitting out.
The Lady Tigers, along with John Brady‘s Tigers, will be on hand on next Saturday, October 21, before the LSU-Mississippi State football game from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for Fan Day.
