Tigers Break Course Record; Hold Second Place at TOC

Men’s Golf Struggles In Final Round, Finishes 14th

DALLAS — The LSU men’s golf team struggled in the final round of the 13th annual Red River Classic on Tuesday, shooting a 20-over par 308 after finishing the first two rounds at 2-over. The Tigers finished in 14th place in the 15-team field that included nine ranked opponents.

Senior Alan Morgan worked his way into the lead in the individual leaderbroad early in the day, however, a bogey on the par 5 No. 1 hole and a double-bogey on the par 4 No. 2 dropped him into a tie for ninth place after a final round 2-over 74. Morgan finished the tournament at 5-under par.

Southern Cal’s Hunter Maham led the Trojan team to the tournament title and took the medalist honors at 12-under par. Maham came back from an even-par first round to shoot a 65 and then 67.

Southern Cal won the event at 16-under par. TCU (13-under), Texas (11-under), Oklahoma (7-under) and Southern Miss (5-under) rounded out the top five with the only sub-par team scores in the tournament.

LSU’s John Humphries finished in 34th place at 3-over after a final round 77. Also, Billy Dressler finished tied for 74th at 14-over, Michael Beckers shot 81 in the final round for 79th place and Dallas native Mark Schultz finished in 80th place at 19-over after a final round of 85.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, Oct. 16, at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate.
