Volleyball Takes on Tennessee at Home

BATON ROUGE — On Sunday, the LSU volleyball team will attempt to win its second consecutive Southeastern Conference match when it hosts Tennessee in a 2:00 p.m. match.

Tennessee (12-4, 2-2 SEC) had won seven straight prior todropping its last twoconference matches to South Carolina and Arkansas. LSU (7-7, 2-2 SEC) is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Kentucky on Friday night in which the Tigers controlled the match from the opening serve to the final kill.

“Tennessee is going to be a much tougher match than Kentucky,” said LSU coach Fran Flory. “They have a bunch of experience coming back from last year. They are going to have a little different line up than what we were able to prepare for because they had a player quit the team this week, so we have to play at a high level and be very intense to beat them.”

The Tigers will be led into the match by outside hitter Jennifer Hampton who recorded her tam-high sixth double-double in the win over Kentucky with 15 kills and 21 digs in just three games. The 21 digs, 11 of which came in game one, are good enough for fourth in LSU history for a three-game match. Hampton ranks second in the conference in digs/game with a 3.35 average.

Janelle Hestor and Ariana Wilson lead the Volunteers into Baton Rouge. Hestor leads the team with a team-high .385 attack percentage, which is good enough for third in the SEC while Wilson is a returning first-team all-SEC member.

“Ariana Wilson has moved to the outside from the middle after being all-conference last year,” said Flory. “She is a big force. She is the big gun for them on the left side.”

It will be Website Sunday at the PMAC in which fans can print free coupons off the internet at www.LSUsports.net to be used for a special deal at the arena.
