Davey Honored by CNNSI.com; LSU-Florida Set For 11:30 a.m.

ATLANTA — LSU quarterback Rohan Davey was named the CNNSI.com Player of the Week on Sunday after his amazing performance in a 38-31 overtime victory over 11th-ranked Tennessee on Sept. 30. Also, Jefferson Pilot announced that the LSU-Florida game on Oct. 7 will be televised beginning at 11:30 (CT).

Davey, who finished the game 23-of-35 for 318 yards and four touchdowns, filled in the starting role for an injured Josh Booty and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to begin the overtime period and win the game.

Despite coming off of knee surgery after a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Feb. 22, and with a high ankle sprain suffered late in the second quarter, Davey and the Tigers withstood an 18-point comeback effort by the Vols to hold on for the victory in extra time.

The victory was the first by the Tigers since 1998 and only the fourth in the 25-game series with Tennessee.

After coming off a 13-10 loss to UAB on Sept. 23, LSU improved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference.

The Tigers travel to Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 7, for an 11:30 a.m. (CT) contest with the Gators. The game will be televised regionally by Jefferson Pilot, the network announced Sunday.
