BATON ROUGE — Fresh off its victory at the Ragin’ Cajun Invitational in Lafayette this weekend, the LSU women’s cross country team jumped into the NCAA South Central Regional rankings for the first time this season, grabbing the No. 10 spot.
The Tigers finished just outside the rankings in the men’s poll, receiving votes for the first time this season.
Arkansas continues to lead both polls by substantial margins, while Tulane ranks second in the men’s poll and Texas A&M sits in second this week in the women’s poll.
LSU will get its shot at a number of higher ranked teams at the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park on Saturday morning. Tulane will be on hand, as well as McNeese State, ranked fifth in the women’s poll and ninth in the men’s and New Orleans, ranked seventh in the women’s poll.
The LSU Invitational will get underway at 8 a.m. with the women’s 6k run, while the men will follow with a five-mile run at 9 a.m.
