BATON ROUGE — Riding a five-game winning streak, the LSU soccer team travels to Lafayette for a 4 p.m. match against first-year program Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon.

“I am concerned about the game with Louisiana-Lafayette,” said head coach George Fotopoulos. “I think that this will be a difficult game that will come down to the wire. We are coming off two tough wins this weekend, and I hope we have enough left to pull out another win.”

The Tigers are now 8-1 for the season and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play following back-to-back shutouts over Northwestern State, 3-0, on Friday and Arkansas, 1-0, on Sunday. Lafayette is 2-6 on the season.

LSU’s five game winning streak is the second longest in school history. The longest streak of eight was set by the 1996 Tiger squad that went 11-8 overall.

The Tigers are 2-0 against in-state teams this season. LSU defeated Louisiana-Monroe, 4-2, on Aug. 27 and Northwestern State, 1-0, last Friday.

Coming up, the Tigers take to the road for a pair of key SEC matches. LSU will face Ole Miss on Friday at 7 p.m. in Oxford and Mississippi State on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Starkville.
