PINESVILLE, Md. — Continuing his series of upset wins, LSU’s Ajay Ramaswami advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket in the 2000 T. Rowe Price ITA National Clay Court Championships on Saturday by winning back-to-back matches over the nation’s 25th- and 34th-ranked players.

Ramaswami upset Alabama’s 25th-ranked Max Belski in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning when he retired from the match after one game of the third set. Ranked 57th in the ITA Preseason rankings, Ramaswami won the quarterfinal match, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (ret.) over Belexi.

He then pulled another upset by beating SMU’s 34th-ranked Jon Wallmark in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to the final where he will face 17th-ranked Jason Marshall of Purdue at 10 a.m. Sunday. Marshall defeated 31st-ranked Georges Matijasevic of Auburn, 6-4, 6-4, in the other consolation semifinal.

On Friday, Ramaswami upset Duke’s 16th-ranked Andres Pedroso in the second round of the consolation bracket, 6-2, 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinals.
