KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The LSU men’s golf team broke the course record by shooting a two-round total of 12-under par 564 on Monday to hold second place in the Tennessee Tournament of Champions after one day of play at Holston Hills Country Club.
LSU senior Alan Morgan is tied for second place, one stroke back of Virginia’s Cameron Tancy at 7-under, while LSU’s Billy Dressler is tied for eighth at 3-under. Tiger teammates Craig Taylor and John Humphries are tied for 19th.
“It was a very solid performance”, said Tiger head coach Greg Jones.”The competition was a lot tougher than last week, but we shot under par and were very consistent.”
The Virginia Cavaliers hold a one-stroke advantage over the Tigers with one round of play remaining on Tuesday. The host Tennessee Volunteers finished in third place, followed by North Carolina State. East Tennessee State rounded out the top five.
Two fellow Southeastern Conference schools, Florida and Auburn are tied for seventh place, 17 strokes behind LSU.
The Tigers will tee off at 9:52 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Holston Hills. This will be the Tigers last tournament until Oct. 9th when.
