Soccer To Host Youth Clinic, Scrimmage English Team

Tigers Take on Alabama A&M in Soccer

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team returns home to the LSU Soccer Complex to face the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs in a 7 p.m. match on Friday.

“I am excited to be playing again,especially at LSU,” said head coach George Fotopoulos. “It will be nice to have this home stretch.”

The Tigers are 5-1 after a two game road trip to Stetson University last Thursday and Embry-Riddle on Saturday. LSU shutout both teams, 2-0, to continue the best start in school history.

Since returning to LSU, the Tigers have had the week to practice and have been focusing mainly on the offensive end of their game.

“The girls have worked hard this week and hopefully we will produce better offensively this game,” said Fotopoulos. “Our focus this week has been on the offense.? We need to get in the game and find a way to score goals early.”

Alabama A&M enters its first game against the Tigers with a record of 0-6.? The Lady Bulldogs fell to Murray State last Sunday by a score of 9-0.? Alabama A&M opened its season with a loss to Southeastern Conference opponent Auburn, 11-0.

The Tigers are led offensively by sophomore Kara Dean who has scored six goals this season.? Second on the team with three goals is freshman Rachel Cohen.? LSU has outscored its opponents this season 14-5.

LSU will remain at home for its next match against Northwestern State on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. before beginning SEC play against Arkansas on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. The Arkansas match will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
