BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will attempt to improve upon the best start in school history when they play the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles on Saturday at 3 p.m. CDT in Daytona Beach, Fla.

“The win on Thursday against Stetson was good for us,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos.? “The girls played well, and now I hope that we can carry our momentum into this game.”

Off to a 4-1 start this season, the Tigers have matched the number of wins posted by last year’s team that went 4-15-1.

LSU is fresh off a 2-0 shutout over Stetson University on Thursday night.? Kara Dean scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to propel the Tigers to victory.

This will be the Tigers’ first meeting with Embry-Riddle, a member of the Florida Sun Conference as part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Eagles improved from 2-15 in 1998 to 7-11-2 in 1999, while finishing fourth in conference play at 6-6.

Embry-Riddle began the season with a 4-0 win over St. Leo College on Sept. 1, before dismantling Warner Southern College, 7-0, on Wednesday in Daytona Beach.

ERAU has outshot its opponents 38-3 in two games this season while holding opponents scoreless in 180 minutes of play. Freshman forward Lisa Lundgren leads the Eagles with three goals, while junior Kati Schwikert, freshman Michelle McCoy and sophomore Joelle Zucali have two goals apiece.

The Tigers will return home on Friday, Sept. 15, for a match against Alabama A&M at 7:00 p.m, while ERAU takes on Stetson on Monday at 7 p.m.
