BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team looks to improve upon its 3-1 record when the Tigers travel to Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., Thursday afternoon for a 3 p.m. (CT) match.
“Stetson is coming into this game following a big win over South Florida,” said head coach George Fotopoulos.? “Their momentum and experience is on their side. I hope that we can be competitive and match up to their team.”
The Tigers enter the road trip after going 1-1 for the weekend at the LSU Invitational. ? LSU defeated Texas Tech for the first time in history Friday night by a score of 2-1.? The Tigers dropped its first match of the season on Sunday to Oklahoma State with a 2-0 loss.
LSU hopes to bounce back from Sunday’s shutout and return to the offensive productivity of its first three games.? The Tigers outscored its opponents 10-3 in those three games. ? Sophomore Kara Dean led the Tigers with five goals in the first two games and 11 points.? In just two games, Dean has matched last season’s high goal scorer.
Stetson is 1-1 for the 2000 season with a 2-1 win over South Florida at home on Sunday. ? The Hatters suffered the first loss of the season to Charleston Southern, 2-1.
The Tigers will continue on the road with a Saturday match against Embry-Riddle before returning home to face Alabama A&M on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex.
