HATTISBURG, Miss. — The LSU volleyball team won its second straight match by shutting down Southern Miss, 3-0, on Tuesday night in Hattisburg, Miss.
The Tigers improved to 2-1 on the young season, while Southern Miss fell to 2-3.
“I thought our defense really stepped up and led us to victory against a good team tonight,” head coach Fran Flory said. “We were able to overcome an off night offensively with a solid effort defensively from the entire team.”
Twelve Tigers contributed to the 15-2, 15-6, 15-11, victory over the Lady Eagles to give LSU’s its second win of the season.
Before opening the home season with the Tiger Classic on Sept. 15-16, the Tigers travel to New Orleans to face Tulane, New Orleans and Wyoming in the Sugar Bowl Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
LSU takes on Tulane at 7 p.m. on Friday before facing New Orleans at 10 a.m. Saturday and Wyoming at 6 p.m. Saturday.
