Volleyball Takes on Central Florida in Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. — The LSU volleyball team will look to pick up its first win of the young season at 11 a.m. Sunday when it takes on Central Florida in the consolation match of the Colorado PowerBar Invitational.

Friday night, the Tigers fell to Santa Clara in four games while the Golden Knights were defeated, 3-0, by host Colorado. Each team is 0-1 on the season.

“This is a match were we need to forget about Friday night and play the way we are capable of playing,” said LSU head coach Fran Flory. “Central Florida is an experienced team, having been to the NCAA Tournament in the past couple of years, that can beat us. It is up to us to be aggressive and take the match to them and get a win.”

The Tigers and Golden Knights squared off a season ago in Baton Rouge with LSU coming away with a 15-2, 16-14, 15-10, victory. UCF leads the overall series 4-3 and has a victory over the Tigers as recently as 1997.

Leading the way for the Tigers will be middle blocker Meagan Davis, who led LSU with 12 kills and a .400 attack percentage in the loss to Santa Clara, and middle blocker Rachel Vogt, who recorded a career-high 11 kills on Friday.
