Henry to Coach USA Track Team in Mexico

BATON ROUGE — LSU track and field head coach Pat Henry, who recently became only the second man in NCAA history to direct 20 national championship teams, has been selected to coach the United States squad at the first-ever NACAC Under-25 Athletics Championships in Monterrey, Mexico.

“Any time you’re asked to coach a team representing the United States of America, it’s a tremendous honor and I’m thrilled to be a part of this great event,” said Henry.

The competition is open to athletes under 25 years of age, entered by a country affiliated with the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC).

The NACAC Under-25 Championships will be held from Aug. 3-5 at Chico Rivera Stadium at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey.

Henry will have no part in the selection process of his team, however, he may see a number of familiar faces in Monterrey.

“USA Track and Field is responsible for selecting my roster, but without naming people, I’d like to think that I may be a few LSU athletes on that roster,” added Henry.
