BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU Associate Athletic Director Debbie Corum has been named Associate Commissioner for the Southeastern Conference, Commissioner Roy Kramer announced. LSU’s Assistant Dean of Students, Wanda Hargroder, will take over Corum’s position beginning in the fall.
Corum comes to the SEC from Louisiana State University, where she has served as Associate Athletic Director for Olympic Sports since 1999. She was promoted to that role after serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Olympic Sports, beginning in 1996. Corum also serves on the NCAA Women’s Basketball Committee.
Corum will be replacing Pat Wall, who will retire over the course of the next year. Wall will continue to serve the SEC as a consultant.
Corum’s athletic administration career began at the SEC office in 1989, working first as an administrative assistant, Assistant Director of Championships and then Director of Championships.
“We are extremely excited to have Debbie return to the conference office,” said Kramer. “She has an outstanding background in athletic administration and a thorough knowledge of this conference.”
The Nashville, Tenn., native left the SEC office in 1994 to become the Assistant Athletic Director for Intercollegiate Sports at Stanford. At Stanford, Corum served as championship director for all Pacific-10, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and NCAA championships hosted on the Stanford campus.
Corum earned her bachelor of science degree in psychology/education from Vanderbilt in 1976. Debbie and her husband, Steve, have four children: Amanda, Kristin, Mandi and Robert.
