FLOSSMOOR, Ill. — LSU All-American women’s golf Meredith Duncan added to her strong 2000 accolades by capturing the 100th National Women’s Western Amateur Championship this past weekend.
Duncan, who completed her sophomore season at LSU with a seventh place finish in the NCAA Championships and a selection to the honorable mention All-America team by the National Golf Coaches Association, defeated Jennifer Patterson, 6 and 5, in the a 36-hole match play final to win the championships at the Flossmoor Country Club.
Duncan was up six holes after the morning 18 holes and still held a five-up advantage after 27 holes. She won the match on the 13th (31st) hole of play.
Duncan next will begin final preparations for her trip to Ireland to represent the United States in the Collegiate World Cup in July.
