MALIBU, Calif. — LSU’s 11th-ranked Bruna Colosio advanced to the third round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Individual Championships after fog and mist delayed singles and doubles play more than four hours Tuesday.
After winning her first round match in three sets Monday, the sophomore from Cascaval, Brazil, defeated William & Mary’s 46th-ranked Delphine Troch, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to play Georgia’s 31st-ranked Lori Grey at noon CDT on Wednesday.
Grey, who beat Northwestern’s Katherine Nasser in the first round, advanced to play Colosio by defeating Florida’s Stephanie Hazlett in the second round, 6-4, 7-6.
Should Colosio beat Grey, she will meet the winner of sixth-seeded Alison Bradshaw of Arizona State and Katarina Malec of UNLV in the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. CDT Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded doubles team of Colosio and doubles Ana Paula Mores were upset by Grey and Marissa Catlin, 7-5, 6-2, in the second round of the 32-team tournament Tuesday afternoon.
