BATON ROUGE — LSU will play host to an NCAA Softball Regional Tournament for the second year in a row beginning Thursday at Tiger Park on the LSU campus.
The Tigers are seeded No. 1 in the tournament and will be joined by No. 2 seed Southern Mississippi, No. 3 seed Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 4 seed Hofstra, No. 5 seed Oregon and No. 6 seed Northwestern State.
“I’m very excited about hosting a regional and I’m extremely excited about the field that will be at our regional in Baton Rouge,” LSU head coach Glenn Moore said. “There will be a lot of outstanding softball played this week and it will be a great atmosphere. It’s not an easy regional by any means, but we’re excited.”
Games will be played at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. One or two games will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. to determine the regional championship in the double elimination tournament.
LSU will play Northwestern State on Thursday at 7 p.m. Other first round games will pit Louisiana-Lafayette against Hofstra at 1 p.m. and Southern Mississippi against Oregon at 4 p.m.
The winner of the tournament will advance to the College Softball World Series, to be played May 25-29 in Oklahoma City.
Current season ticket holders can buy their tickets to the regional beginning Monday at 8 a.m. at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office and have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The ticket office will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on each of those days.
All remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
Tickets are $25 for adults for a tournament book for all games, and $15 for children 12 and under.
