Asbill Named to All-District Softball Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU senior shortstop Tara Asbill is one of 11 student-athletes named to the 2000 GTE Academic All-District Softball team for District IV, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

The honor is the second of Asbill’s career as she was named the squad last season. Asbill is also a three-time Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll member. Asbill, a native of Elgin, S.C., has a 3.38 grade point average in Kinesiology.

Earlier this week, Asbill was named first team all-Southeastern Conference infielder for the fourth straight year.

In 62 games with the Tigers, Asbill is batting .367 with a team-high 12 home runs and 46 RBI. Asbill also has 11 doubles and she’s scored a team-best 56 runs.
