Tallet Named SEC Pitcher of the Week; Game Moved

BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU left-hander Brian Tallet was named Monday as the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Tallet, a junior from Bethany, Okla., earned the award by firing a seven-hit shutout at Kentucky last Friday. He recorded two walks and six strikeouts, and he allowed just two UK runners to advance beyond second base.

Tallet, who has also blanked Virginia (Feb. 12) and Vanderbilt (March 17) this season, tied the LSU record for single-season shutouts (3) shared by former major leaguers Randy Wiles (1970) and Ben McDonald (1989).

On the year, Tallet has a 10-3 mark and a 3.56 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 37 walks in 101 innings.

In other LSU baseball news, school officials have announced that Saturday’s game with Alabama will start at 2 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium. The game, originally scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., will start two hours earlier in order to avoid conflict with the SEC Track and Field Championships, which begin at 5 p.m. Saturday in LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium.
