Tiger Golfer Morgan Named All-SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.– Mississippi State’s Alex Rocha, the Southeastern Conference’s leader in scoring among men’s golfers was named the league’s Player of the Year. The award was voted on by the 12 head coaches. LSU junior Alan Morgan was named to the All-SEC second team.

The junior from Lake Charles, Louisiana, led LSU in virtually all categories this year. Morgan led LSU and ranked 12th in the SEC in stroke average with a 72.8. Morgan also led the Tigers in rounds of par or better with 16, along with top-10 and top-20 finishes, with five and eight, respectively.

SEC coach of the year went to Georgia’s Chris Haack. The Bulldog’s are currently ranked number five in the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, and also took home the first place honors earlier this season at the SEC Championships.

Joining Rocha on the first team were Auburn senior Roland Thatcher, Arkansas junior Craig Lile, Ole Miss senior Jon Bartlett, Florida sophomore Camilo Benedetti and sophomore Bryant Odom.

The All-SEC second team includes Georgia junior Bubba Watson, LSU’s Morgan, Tennessee senior Derrick Centers, South Carolina junior Kyle Thompson, and teammate senior Eric Ecker and Auburn teammates senior Jason Dufner and sophomore Scott Weatherly.
