Softball Set to Take on Tennessee on Senior Day

BATON ROUGE — The No. 7 LSU softball team will look to extend their 10 game winning streak on Sunday at Tiger Park against Tennessee in their final home game of the regular season.

“We are continuing to head in the right direction,” said head coach Glenn Moore. “We now must keep our intensity up and bring our play to the next level to finish out the season as we hope. We cannot let up now.”

The Sunday double header will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Network (107.3 in Baton Rouge) and www.LSUsports.net.

The Tigers are now 49-8 overall and 22-2 in the Southeastern Conference following a double header sweep of Kentucky on Friday night. LSU shutout the Wildcats with scores of 2-0 and 7-0.

LSU leads the SEC by a single game with Alabama trailing with a 21-3 SEC record. The Tide will face Georgia Saturday in a double header. The Tigers and the Tide will battle it out next weekend in Tuscaloosa for the SEC Regular Season Championship.

Tennessee has a record of 27-28 overall and a 5-16 record in the SEC. The Lady Vols and the Tigers have met a total of seven times in the last three years with LSU winning five of the contests. In 1999, the two split a doubleheader in Knoxville.
