Men’s Tennis Remains No. 10 Entering Postseason

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team remained 10th in the latest rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Tigers (18-5) have been ranked 10th in the ITA poll for each of the past two weeks. LSU fell three spots from 12th to 15th in this week’s Daily Tennis Coaches Poll.

“Right now we are in a good position to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament,” said LSU coach Jeff Brown. “That has been a goal of ours all season and will be as long as the tournament field is expanded to 64 teams.”

Individually, three Tigers earned singles rankings while one doubles team was ranked.

Seniors Tom Hand and Michal Chmela each made slight drops in the singles rankings as Hand fell one spot to No. 20 and Chmela moved down two spots to No. 23.

Earning his first national singles ranking this week is junior Ajay Ramaswami who occupies the No. 92 spot.

“Ajay has raised the level of his game as he has continued to move higher up in the line up this Spring. His play has been the most consistent on our team and he has been a huge part of our success,” said Brown.
