Lee, Duncan Named All-SEC Golfers

BATON ROUGE — Kenner senior Lisette Lee and Shreveport sophomore Meredith Duncan of the LSU women’s golf team were named to both the first-team All-Southeastern Conference team and the women’s golf Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league.

Lee and Duncan are a part of a total of six LSU women’s golfers to make the Academic Honor Roll, the most of any women’s golf team in the SEC this season.

Lee returns to the first team for the second time in her four-year LSU career, also being named to the first team as a freshman in 1997. She finished 12th in the just completed SEC Championships, in which LSU finished a rallying second, and averages 75.52 strokes per round. Lee, who won the Lady Gamecock Invitational, is fourth in the league in stroke average.

She won a spot on the Academic Honor Roll for the third time with a 4.0 GPA. It was announced prior to the SEC Tournament that she was the female winner of the Boyd McWhorter post-graduate award in the league, which carries with it a $10,000 scholarship.

Duncan went from honorable mention All-SEC as a freshman to the first team this year, with a 75.55 stroke average (fifth in the SEC) and seven top 10s, including all five spring events. She was tied for ninth in the SECs and posted her best collegiate finish, a tie for second, earlier this month at the LSU/Cleveland Classic. The former high school basketball star made the Honor Roll with a 3.23 GPA.

The other four members from LSU of the Academic Honor Roll were sophomore Missy Ballew, 3.42 GPA; senior Lesley McClurg, 4.0 GPA; sophomore Erin Sarver, 3.625 GPA; and junior Katy Wilkinson, 3.818 GPA.

McClurg was redshirted this season because of injury and will be back next year for her senior season.

Wilkinson was also named Honorable Mention All-SEC, averaging 77.68 strokes per round with two top 10 finishes.

The Tigers, ranked eighth-nationally, will receive their NCAA East Regional bid next Monday for the event scheduled for May 11-13 at Columbus, Ohio.
