BATON ROUGE, La. — Brian Tallet scattered six hits over six innings to complement LSU’s 12-hit attack Saturday as the Tigers won their fifth straight game with a 12-5 win over Arkansas in Alex Box Stadium.
LSU improved to 25-10 overall and 9-4 in the Southeastern Conference. Arkansas dropped to 15-19 overall and 2-10 in league play. The team conclude the three-game series at noon Sunday.
Tallet, 7-2, worked six innings, limiting the Razorbacks to three runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
LSU erased a 1-0 deficit with a four-run third inning. The Tigers’ first run scored when Arkansas center fielder Brian Kirby misplayed Brad Hawpe’s two-out fly ball, allowing Brad Cresse, who was hit by a pitch to reach home. LSU also scored on a wild pitch by Arkansas starter Cliff Lee, a bases-loaded walk to Jeremy Witten, and a single by Cedrick Harris.
The Tigers extended the lead to 6-1 in the fifth on Witten’s two-RBI single. LSU added three more runs in the sixth with Hawpe’s two-run double highlighting the inning.
Cresse’s two-RBI single in the seventh gave LSU a 12-3 advantage.
Lee, 4-1, took the loss, as he was charged with four unearned runs on three hits in three innings with three walks and one strikeout.
