BATON ROUGE — Just two days after being named the Co-Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week, sophomore Britni Sneed was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week.
Sneed is the first LSU softball player to receive this honor.
“This is a huge honor and is evidence that Coach Landry has the pitching staff going in the right direction,” said head coach Glenn Moore.
Sneed pitched 19 innings without allowing a run last week, leading the No. 8 Lady Tigers to a win over Northwestern State and two victories over SEC rival Ole Miss.
Sneed pitched her first collegiate no-hitter against the Rebels on March 31, walking none and striking out 12. For the week, she gave up six hits, walked three and struck out 26.
“I am very honored to receive this award,” said Sneed. “I have been working on my change-up, and I feel it has helped my game tremendously. My team has also been a big support on the field for me.”
For the season, Sneed has a 12-5 record with a 1.62 ERA. She has struck out 159 batters in 121 innings.
