BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s basketball team tied the school’s highest final ranking on Tuesday as the Lady Tigers finished the 1999-2000 season ranked No. 8 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Lady Tigers, who reached the Elite Eight at the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Connecticut, capped their season with a 25-7 overall mark. National champion Connecticut is No. 1 in the final poll, followed by Tennessee, Penn State, Rutgers and Georgia. Louisiana Tech is No. 6, followed by Texas Tech, LSU, Notre Dame and Iowa State. Other SEC teams in the top 25 include Mississippi State at No. 15, Auburn at No. 19 and Vanderbilt at No. 25.

In all, LSU played 12 games against teams ranked in the final coaches Top 25 poll and the Lady Tigers had a 6-6 mark against those teams.
