Sneed Named Softball Co-Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU softball sophomore Britni Sneed was named the Co-Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week Monday as announced by the conference office.

Sneed pitched her first college no-hitter against SEC opponent Ole Miss Friday night in Oxford. She retired 12 batters at the plate and gave up no walks in a 3-0 victory.

“Britni has been working hard in the bullpen and has really developed her change-up,” said LSU pitching coach Brandi Landry. “This will add another dimension to her game as she continues to get stronger with every outing.”

Sneed led the ninth-ranked Tigers to three of their six wins for the past week, improving her record to 12-5. She struck out a grand total of 26 batters and only gave up six hits against Ole Miss and Northwestern State.

For the season, Sneed’s ERA is 1.62 with 159 strikeouts in 121.0 innings. She set the LSU single season strike out record of 204 as a freshman.

Sneed is the fourth LSU softball player this season to receive player of the week honors.

Sneed and the Tigers will face the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m. in Baton Rouge at Tiger Park.
