STATESBORO, Ga. — The LSU men’s golf team finished the final day of the Chris Schenkel/E-Z-Go Invitational in 11th place Sunday at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
Sixth-ranked Georgia won the event with a school-record 35-under par 829, eclipsing the previous record of 29-under par set in 1978. Clemson finished in second place with a three-round total of 846, 17 shots behind the Bulldogs. North Carolina State was third at 852 while Florida and Duke tied for fourth at 861.
Tournament host Georgia Southern finished 14th in the field of 15 teams.
The Tigers were led by senior Jeremy Wilkinson who finished in 12th place overall by shooting rounds of 70, 73 and 69. Alan Morgan and John Humphries each shot 221 to finish in a tie for 43rd.
Billy Dressler and Garrett Prather finished in 71st and 75th, respectively.
Georgia’s Bubba Watson won the individual title with three sub-par rounds and a total of 9-under par 203. The Bulldogs had three golfers in the top five.
LSU returns to action April 7-9 at the Billy Hitchcock Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
