BATON ROUGE — The 11th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team hosts Alabama on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in a Southeastern Conference match.

LSU (10-2, 2-1 SEC) enters the match fresh off its first road win of the season, a 6-1 victory over Vanderbilt. The Tigers have won two in a row overall. The Crimson Tide (5-7, 2-2) enters the match having lost two in a row.

“We were able to get a good road win in the SEC last weekend and we need to continue our momentum against Alabama,” said LSU coach Jeff Brown. “They have a good team that is capable of pulling off the upset if given the opportunity.”

LSU has owned Alabama recently, taking each of the past five decisions, including last year’s 6-1 beating of the Tide in Tuscaloosa.

Seniors Tom Hand and Michal Chmela will lead the Tigers into battle. Hand, ranked 20th in the nation, moved into third-place in LSU history for career wins with his 101st over Bill McGugin at Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Chmela, a two-time all-American, is ranked No. 35 in the nation in singles and teams up with sophomore Dan Kiernan to form the 21st-ranked doubles team.
