BATON ROUGE — The No. 8 LSU softball team begins Southeastern Conference play against the Auburn Tigers Friday at 5 and 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.
“Our pre-conference play has allowed us to face some of the top pitchers and batters in the nation,” said head coach Glenn Moore. “I feel that the competition we have seen has helped us improve, and we are ready to face the SEC.”
LSU is 19-6 going into SEC play after beginning the season with five tournaments. This past weekend the Tigers went 3-2 in the OU/Worth Invitational in Norman, Okla.
Auburn is 15-4 for the season coming to LSU. In SEC play they are 1-1 after splitting with South Carolina in the SEC opening weekend.
The LSU Tigers has won 11 of 12 previous meetings with the Auburn Tigers. In 1999, LSU went 4-0 against Auburn at their home field.
After calling Wednesday’s games against Sam Houston and Southeastern Louisiana due to weather, LSU will face Southeastern Louisiana in a double header on Tuesday, March 21 at 5 and 7 p.m.
