Soccer Signs New Orleans Sweeper, Bowman

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team received letter of intent papers from Mount Carmel Academy sweeper Katy Bowman, bringing the Tigers’ total number of signees to 11.

Bowman becomes the fifth significant Louisiana signee for first-year LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. Bowman joins Elizabeth Marschall and Colleen Zimmerman of Kenner, Rachel Cohen of Lafayette and Robyn DesOrmeaux of Carencro as Louisiana signees who have joined Fotopoulos’ rebuilding process.

Bowman has enjoyed a highly decorated career as a prepster. She was named the NSCAA/Addidas High School Girls Player fo the Year in 1999. Bowman was also named to the All-State Team in 1998 and 1999, All-Metro in 1998 and 1999 and All-District Team Most Valuable Defender in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

In addition, Bowman has been a member of the Louisiana Olympic Development Program since 1995. She is a current member of the Red Star ’82 club level team that claimed the state title for each of the past four years.
