ATLANTA — Brandon Dean hit a running one-hand layup with less than 30 seconds left to play to put the Arkansas Razorbacks up for good and beat the Tigers, 69-67, Saturday at the SEC Tournament in Atlanta.
Arkansas led by as much as 13 in the second half before the Tigers went on a 10-0 in the final five minutes to tie the game at 65-65 on back-to-back steals for layups.
However, LSU failed to take the lead and Dean’s layup was the final nail in the Tigers’ SEC Tournament coffin.
Twenty-four turnovers plagued the Tigers all afternoon, and Arkansas capitalized on them with 21 points.
LSU fell to 26-5 after losing their first game since Feb. 2. The Tigers await an NCAA Tournament bid Sunday and will return to action in that tournament next Thursday or Friday.
Arkansas will play Auburn in the SEC Tournament Final Sunday at noon.
Earlier, Auburn defeated South Carolina, 77-72, in overtime to advance to the championship game.
