Men’s Golf Finishes 6th at Seminole

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.–The LSU men’s golf team took home sixth place here at the sixth annual Seminole Intercollegiate at the Killearn Country Club.

North Florida took home the team championship with an 11-under par score of 853 for the tournament. The next closest finisher was Mississippi State, who came in at two under-par 862 for the tournament, nine strokes off the lead.

LSU finished the weekend with a score of nine over-par 871.

Individually, Mississippi State’s Alex Rocha won medalist honors behind a final round 69 (68-71-69–208) to finish the tournament at 8-under par. He overtook first day leader Chris Wisler of East Tennessee State, who shot a final round 72 (72-71-72-210) to finish two strokes back of Rocha.

LSU’s top finisher was junior Alan Morgan, who finished the tournament in a tie for fifth place overall with a total score of 213 at three strokes under-par.

Also contributing to the Tiger cause was Mike Vallillo, who finished in a 22nd place finish, shooting a total of 218 at 2-over par. Jeremy Wilkinson ended up tied for the 37th spot overall after a weekend total of 222 at 6-over par. Garret Prather finished in a tie for 46th position after a total score of 225 at 9-over par. Craig Taylor also contributed after firing a 226 total at 10 over-par.

Competing individually for the Tigers was John Humphries, who placed tied for 27th after carding a three round total of 220, at four strokes over par.

The Tigers next see action again March 17-19 when they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to take part in the Southeastern Intercollegiate, hosted by Alabama.
