BATON ROUGE — The 24th-ranked LSU women’s tennis team plays host to 17th-ranked South Carolina at noon today in a Southeastern Conference battle at “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
“It is going to be a really close match,” said LSU coach Tony Minnis.
“South Carolina is a good team and I hope that the fans will come out and cheer us on.”
The Lady Tigers hope to end a three-match losing streak. LSU’s last three losses were against two Top 5 teams and a Top 20 team. LSU fell victim to No. 4 Florida (7-2), No. 19 Florida State (5-4) and No. 3 Georgia (6-3). The Lady Tigers own a 7-4 overall record, but are 0-3 in SEC play.
South Carolina, 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the SEC, has lost to No. 1 Stanford (8-0), No. 12 William and Mary (4-3), and No. 18 Northwestern (5-2). The team defeated Kentucky, 6-3, in its lone SEC match.
