BATON ROUGE- New LSU soccer head coach George Fotopoulos continued his aggressive overhaul of the Tiger program, receiving a letter of intent from midfielder/defender Melissa Rojas of Longwood, Fla., bringing LSU’s total number of signees to nine.
Rojas joins LSU after a successful career at Lake Mary High School. Rojas helped her team to a runner-up finish in Florida Class 6-A in 1999 after winning the Regional title. She helped Lake Mary to the state and regional titles in 1998.
Rojas comes to the Tigers with 10 years of club experience, most recently for the Seminole Extreme which made the Florida State Cup Final Four in 1999 and won the WAGS “B” Under 17 tournament in 1998.
The signing of Rojas marks the second signing from his native Florida for Fotopoulos. Katie Calvin of St. Petersburg signed with the Tigers on Feb. 8.
