BATON ROUGE – Tommy Moffitt, LSU’s new strength and conditioning coordinator, has been named the 1999 Collegiate Football Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society.
Moffitt will receive the award at the annual banquet of the PFS on Friday, February 25, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Moffitt joined the LSU staff in January from the University of Miami where he had served as head strength coach for the last two years.
Moffitt, 37, came to LSU after helping Miami head coach Butch Davis rebuild the Hurricane football program. He went to Miami after four seasons, 1994-97, as associate strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee.
A 1986 graduate of Tennessee Tech, Moffitt started his career as an assistant football coach at John Curtis High School in River Ridge from 1987-94.
