OXFORD, Miss. — After knocking off its fourth Top 15 opponent Sunday, the LSU men’s basketball team travels to Ole Miss Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest with the Rebels.
LSU (19-4, 6-4 Southeastern Conference) has vaulted to 16th in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll after back-to-back home wins over Auburn and Kentucky.
The Tigers now find themselves on the road for three straight, including games at Arkansas and South Carolina after tonight’s matchup.
Ole Miss (15-8, 3-7 SEC) has proved to be a worthy opponent this season after beginning the season 12-1. However, the Rebels lost their first five conference games (at Arkansas, vs. Florida, vs. Miss. State, at Tennessee and at Kentucky) beore beating Auburn, 79-77, on Jan. 22 at home.
The Rebels have since won two of four against the “softer side” of the SEC schedule (Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas and Georgia).
LSU will try to put an SEC road winning streak togther for the first time since January of 1995 when the Tigers beat Auburn (76-73) and Alabama (74-61) in consecutive games.
The last time the Tigers took to the road, LSU came away with its largest win over Alabama in school history (93-60).
