BATON ROUGE- Despite upsetting the No. 1 team in the nation, the LSU gymnastics team fell one place to seventh in the nation in the new national rankings released on Tuesday.
Nebraska and LSU switched places in the new poll with the Cornhuskers moving past the Tigers based on average score for the entire season. While LSU scored an impressive 195.125 in upsetting previous No. 1 Utah on Friday night, Nebraska registered a 195.700 to push their season average past the Tigers.
LSU will get a crack at the No. 1 team in the land for the second consecutive week, however. New No. 1 Alabama comes to the Assembly Center for a 7 p.m. showdown on Friday night.
Michigan moved up to No.2, followed by Georgia. Utah fell to fourth, while UCLA remained fifth to round out the top five.
LSU opened the season ninth and has been ranked as high as sixth this season.
