BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team remained in second place behind UCLA in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll this week.
“Heading into the National Indoors, which will be our first major test of the year, this ranking gives us a lot of confidence,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “It is a good measuring stick for where we are now and how much we need to improve to get where we want to go.”
LSU is off as a team until the National Team Indoor Championships in late February, but individuals Michal Chmela and Tom Hand will see action this week in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.
Chmela will meet Jose Sanchez of Virginia Commonwealth while Hand meets Dustin Mauck of SMU in the first round of play that taked place on Thursday morning.
Chmela and Hand will also compete in doubles as the duo forms the tournament’s fourth-seeded team. They will meet Boise State’s team of Leif Meineke and Wesley Moodie in the first round on
Thursday afternoon.
