FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — Bruna Colosio, LSU’s 20th-ranked women’s tennis player, defeated No. 31 Kathy Sell of Duke Friday morning, but lost to second-ranked Laura Granville of Stanford in the quarterfinal round of the Rolex ITA Indoor Championships.
“Bruna did a good job of sticking to her gameplan today,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “She defeated a great player in Sell, but Granville is probably playing the best tennis in the country right now, and she was just too much for Bruna.”
Colosio was victorious over Sell in the second round of the tournament, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinals, while Granville won her match with California’s 9th-ranked Amy Jensen, 6-1, 6-2.
In the quarterfinal round, Granville handily defeated Colosio, 6-0, 6-0. The loss for Colosio snapped her 13-match winning streak and brought her record on the season down to 15-5.
The 23rd-ranked Lady Tigers will next be in action Saturday, February 12 at noon against SEC rival Mississippi State in “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
