BATON ROUGE – – The Lady Tiger tennis team is No. 23 in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, whose rankings came out Wednesday afternoon. LSU is undefeated on the season with a 4-0 record.
“It is a great honor to be ranked 23rd in the nation,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “We have an extremely talented team this year, and I believe that we have a good chance to move even higher.”
LSU is one of only thirteen tennis programs to have both the women and men’s teams ranked in the Top 25. The Tigers are No. 2 and have an early 3-0 record on the season.
The Lady Tigers’ Bruna Colosio who is ranked 20th in the nation will play in the opening round of the Rolex Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Farmers Branch, Texas, Thursday morning.
Colosio has a 13-4 overall record this season, and will take on Ohio State’s Kristy Dascoli. Colosio defeated Dascoli 6-4, 6-3 in singles last year as LSU beat Ohio State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 23 Lady Tiger tennis team will next be in action Saturday, February 12 as LSU hosts SEC rival Mississippi State at noon.
