Tigers Begin Homestand Against Georgia

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers return home to begin a part of the season in which they will play five of the next seven games in the confines of the Maravich Assembly Center, beginning Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Tickets for the game will be on sale at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. before ticket sales begin at the Assembly Center at 5 p.m. Tickets may be order by phone between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 225-388-2184.

The game will not be televised, but the LSU Sports Network will have the radio call of the game (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge). The audio will be available on the LSU web site, www.lsusports.net with members on the web site able to receive steaming video from the video scoreboard above the court.

The Tigers will be trying to stop a three-game losing streak which has dropped LSU to 13-3 overall and 1-3 in the SEC West. The latest loss was a 65-62 decision to Vanderbilt this past Saturday in Nashville.

Georgia is 8-8 overall, 1-3 in the SEC and coming off a win over Alabama on Saturday. The Bulldogs are coached by first-year coach Jim Harrick, the former national championship coach at UCLA.

LSU should be at full strength for the contest as forward Stromile Swift practiced Tuesday at full speed after being limited Monday by a hip bruise suffered in the Vanderbilt game. The Tigers got guard Jermaine Williams back on the road trip and he played extended minutes in both games, getting 10 points versus Florida and six against the Commodores.

Center Jabari Smith has been the scoring leader for the Tigers in the SEC games as the only player to score in double figures each of the four league games.

After Wednesday’s game, LSU will have a week off before hosting Arkansas on Jan. 26 at the Assembly Center.
