TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Each of LSU’s four tennis players bowed out of the singles portion of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
In morning action, Daniel Kiernan fell to eighth-seeded Alex Hartman of Ole Miss 6-1, 6-1. Fellow sophomore Jesse Smatt also dropped a straight-set decision. Smatt lost to fifth-seeded Francisco Rodriguez of Alabama 6-4, 6-1.
Sixth-seeded James Shortall of Ole Miss knocked out Ajay Ramaswami by a 6-3, 6-1 count.
LSU’s Tom Hand, seeded-second in the draw, withdrew from the tournament before his second round match due to injury.
In doubles, both competing LSU teams were eliminated from the tournament in the first round held on Saturday.
